Bin Survey – all classes
Another Survey was undertaken by all classes in the school to determine how well we are doing with our 3 bin system in each classroom. Each class took the survey at the beginning and at the end of Climate Action week. All classes made a special effort to refresh our knowledge of sorting our waste into 3 different bins- Recycling, landfill and compost. The initial survey showed a lot of confusion about washed and unwashed plastics and we made a big improvement there. Overall we are using the recycling bin more after conducting the survey.
Zoom Presentation from Waste Management Ireland
Mr Duffy and Mr Byrnes classes enjoyed a Waste management powerpoint Zoom presentation with Mr Conor Walsh from WASTE MANAGEMENT IRELAND. The presentation was really informative and it explained exactly where all of our waste goes after it leaves our school and homes. We learned about Incineration, Solid Recovered Fuels and Biological Treatment Plants. We are hoping to visit Rathroen Landfiull site in our next school term.
